Merhaba

We have been anchored out the last couple of days, relaxing and enjoying the local area. The closest marina is Marti Marina in the village of Orhaniye. Today we took a Dolmus or bus into Marmaris. We had lunch and did some shopping. Yesterday Bill and I climbed to the top of a small Island just 200 yards from our boat. The island is overrun with rabbits. On the top of the island is an ancient Byzantine Fort. The walls are still standing in some places. It's so interesting to see these old forts, castles etc. that have been standing for hundreds of years. The weekly market is held on Saturdays in Orhaniye, so we will do some more shopping tomorrow morning and load up on fresh produce. The domates or tomatoes are wonderful all the local markets are very interesting. The different local farmers bring their produce and you barter with them on price, I'm not a good barterer... Then we will pull anchor and continue on our westward travels up the Carian Coast.
