Anchored at Port Neville BC

We are on our way to Port Hardy, which is at the northern end of Vancouver Island. We anchored at Eveleigh Island off Homfray Channel in Desolation Sound on Thursday. The area was beautiful but difficult to find anchorages, the depths were so deep.  We traveled through Calm Channel, Cordero Channel, and then waited for the Yaculta, Gillard and Dent Rapids to calm before going through. They were running  10.5 knots at highest tide. When we did pass they were running about 4 knots which made an interesting time. There where a few whirlpools at several points. We connected with Johnstone Straights which pushed us along at 12 knots and that was a bit rough with the wind at our bow.  We anchored at Port Neville last night and were disappointed that the Post office was closed. We hope to push north tomorrow and get across Queen Charlotte Strait. We met fellow Nordhavn owners Randy and Rebecca on a 55 Odesey. They are following us to Port Hardy and they plan to make it up to Juneau. That is all for now.  Bill and Kay
