We spent yesterday dodging ice bergs at LeConte Glacier. We hired a jet boat to take us up the Stikne River to see the glacier. We contemplated taking our boat, but the tides have fluctuated so severely we decided we would rather ride the jet boat through dry straight. Our other option was to go through Wrangell narrows up to Petersburgh, which would have been a day and a half round trip. The experience was so amazing. The ice field was about 6 miles long. The guide told us that generally they are only able to get to Thunder point which is two to three miles from the glacier, we were lucky we made it all the way to the face of the glacier!!! We saw the glacier calve several times and it was so beautiful. There were seals hanging out on many of the ice bergs along the way. The waterfalls fell from towering cliffs that went on forever. Another memorable day on the water and time spent with great friends.
